Stars in the Sky Mirror

Stars in the Sky is a sculptural mirror that brings together wood, reflection, and abalone inlays arranged as constellation patterns that hold personal significance. The iridescent shell and highly figured Makore refract light in subtle ways that are reminiscent of twinkling stars in the night sky. The piece is a continued exploration of abalone and restrained sculpture in the context of a functional object.

This mirror was designed in response to the constraints of a small living space, creating a dedicated area for one person to get ready without competing for space elsewhere. The tall, narrow proportions encourages one person to use it at a time, while the integrated shelf provides a temporary place for everyday items during use.
