Description:
The long crest coffee table is the final piece of the "long crest" living room set. The goal behind this piece was to create a coffee table that would work in a variety of orientations and placements with a flowing appearance that complemented the curves of the ottomans & chairs; however, it was not to outshine the chairs, as I wanted those pieces to be the statement of the set. Though the design seems to be quite simple, the thought is hidden within the details, as evidenced by carefully-planned grain selection, tasteful edge profiles, and pillowed plugs for the hardware. The simple shape is brought to life by a one-of-a-kind figured sapele top with curly cherry. The table is finished with many coats of polymerized tung oil, along many coats of N3 Nano to create a water-resistant surface. Hoping to add better photos soon!
The afternoon sun was hitting the wood just right in the garage as I was continuing to do the finishing process with N3 Nano.
The base is a simple combination of 2D shapes with complementing curves to provide some negative space in the base. A thoughtful, yet simple base.
